Linear Test Lung (LTL) is a passive test lung that produces a linear compliance curve and realistic inflection points throughout a range of settings.  It performs more like a real patient than other bag-style lungs, maintaining a smooth response to progressive inflation, without any “hiccups” due to bulging-out of the bag.

Intended Use

Ventilator testing and in-service training

Realistic

Produces a linear compliance curve and realistic inflection points throughout a range of settings

Adjustable Compliance

Simulates patients with compliances of C10, C30, C60 (approximate)

Impressive Value

Priced significantly below similar bag-style test lungs, while providing impressive performance

Q: Why is a smooth compliance curve important?

A: A smooth compliance curve allows the correlation of  volume and pressure in a very straightforward fashion. The human lung does not respond in a totally linear fashion (it is S-shaped at the bottom range of volumes as well as at the top, creating inflection points) and IngMar Medical’s LTL (Linear Test Lung) also mimics that behavior.

Where the LTL differs from commonly available basic test lungs is that it maintains a smooth response to progressive inflation, without any “hiccups” due to bulging-out of the bag, a phenomenon that makes the behavior of many other test lungs unpredictable at slightly higher volume inflation points.

Linear Test Lung compliance curve is linear and predictable. (top) Other bag-style lung curves are not predictable. (bottom)
