IngMar Medical’s new Internal Simulated Lung (ISL) is based on the world-renowned ASL 5000® Breathing Simulator technology. This technology elevates medical training, offering a tetherless, internal system for creating realistic ventilator interactions. Compatible with nearly any mode of ventilation, it accurately simulates respiratory mechanics, maintains therapeutic PEEP levels, and breathes spontaneously while being ventilated, preparing healthcare professionals for a wide range of ventilation scenarios.


IngMar Medical’s Aurora is designed for training healthcare professionals in the nuances of bag-valve-mask (BVM) ventilation. Users are able to practice and perfect their BVM techniques under various clinical scenarios while being  provided with real-time feedback (e.g. volume, pressure, rate) on the breaths they deliver. With its advanced sensor technology and feedback mechanisms, the Aurora system accurately replicates the challenges faced during real-life respiratory emergencies.


The Aurora manikin enables healthcare practitioners to gain hands-on experience with non-invasive ventilation strategies, including management of a variety of respiratory disease states on CPAP and BiPAP. Aurora ensures that medical professionals build the competence and confidence to utilize non-invasive ventilation techniques effectively and safely in clinical settings.

Which types of ventilators can be used with the simulator?

The features of Aurora’s internal simulated lung (ISL) allows it to be utilized with any ventilator in the market.

Does the simulator trigger a breath on the ventilator?

Yes, not only can the simulator “trigger” the ventilator, but it can mimic apneic to fully breathing patients. Patients can have a range of spontaneous tidal volumes that interact realistically with a ventilator just as a human would. The user can simulate a patient who is breathing with support from the ventilator in spontaneous modes of ventilation, or trigger a ventilator driven breath in controlled modes of ventilation.

Which modes of ventilation can be use with the simulator?

Conventional modes of ventilation can be utilized realistically with the simulator. This includes both invasive modes such as SIMV and full control modes and non-invasive modes like CPAP and BIPAP. Jet and High-frequency ventilation are not recommended.

What type of maintenance is needed for the simulator?

Routine maintenance is not necessary for Aurora or its internal lung technology. Please monitor systems for leaks, and if leaks are detected, we recommend sending the system back in for replacement of seals/lubrication. However, this is not required maintenance if it does not interfere with simulator use on the ventilator.

What is the warranty for the simulator?

The standard warranty covers repairs due to manufacturer’s defects or workmanship.  It does not cover damages resulting from improper use, negligence, disassembly, unauthorized service, and unauthorized modification. Computer or monitors are excluded from the warranty. Manikin skin and anatomical shell is covered under a 3-year standard manufacturer’s warranty. All pneumatics and electrical components are covered separately. Extended warranty options do exist.

What is included in the simulator package?

Each Aurora simulator will come with an Aurora manikin, a windows-based computer to run RespiSim® Software (with two licenses), a tablet to run the Patient Monitor application, an EMS bag containing consumables and intubation accessories, and all additional components needed to run Aurora such as the power charger.

Is training included?

Included with the purchase of Aurora will be a subscription to RespiSim® LMS which will allow for self-learning on the hardware and software for Aurora. Additional training options can be purchased separately, such as clinical consultation. Contact to discuss these options.

Can I use 100% oxygen with the simulator?

The use of 100% oxygen is not recommended for use with Aurora. We suggest the use of compressed air while ventilating Aurora.

How does the simulator communicate with the software?

The simulator can either connect via the internal network within Aurora wirelessly to the PC running the software, or via Ethernet connected from Aurora to the PC running the software. If hardwiring is required, Aurora must also be hardwired to the monitor running the Patient Monitor application.

Does the simulator have realistic chest movement that can be used for patient assessment?

Yes! The chest movement is dynamic featuring both bilateral and unilateral chest rise that is in sync with the patient and any form of ventilation being delivered. Depth and rate are also variable based on the patient’s breaths.

Does the simulator exhale real CO2?

The simulator does not exhale real CO2, however we have simulated CO2 waveforms and values that can be set by the user within the RespiSim® software. This will provide realistic patient assessment without the maintenance of real CO2.
