IngMar Medical is delighted to announce the release of our long-awaited RespiSim® curriculum module “Understanding Modes of Mechanical Ventilation: A New Taxonomy.” This module is based on a published mode classification system1, developed by Rob Chatburn, MHHS, RRT-NPS, FAARC. The concepts covered in this module have been integrated into the newest editions of major textbooks.

With over 298 mode names on 36 ventilators in the US alone, ensuring clinical competency is a challenge. Until now, there has been no standardized training program that would help clinicians develop the skills to understand and use all modes of mechanical ventilation on all ventilators.

The purpose of this module is to help learners properly identify the configuration that makes up a ventilator mode name. Once students can identify modes, they can begin to compare modes, and select the most appropriate one to meet the patient’s needs.

The RespiSim System is a respiratory flight simulator that enables interactive ventilation management training.
