  • Windows 10 or above is required for installation.
  • Before running the RespiSim® installer, please download and install any available Windows updates, and restart your computer
  • Administrator access is required to install and to operate. Windows User Account Control must be enabled in the User Account control panel. A setting of “Never Notify” will disable User Account Control access, and is therefore incompatible with RespiSim® software. Please ask an Administrator to re-enable User Account Control if you are not presented with the User Account Control prompt upon installing or launching RespiSim®.

In process and known bugs (improvements we are working on for the next release):

  • Modes such as APRV and Bi-Level are not functional with Aurora at this time

  • If using a scenario that has a trending lung model or condition with a transition time, the waveform data during the time of the transition will not be recorded recorded during the lung model. After the lung model has reached its final values, and the waveforms have stabilized, waveform recording will continue.

    • Quick fix: for this release, avoid using trends or transitions.

  • When performing CPR, you may notice a lag that causes erroneous rate/depth values being displayed that could skew the displayed average.

  • When using randomization, trends, or transitions, blips are seen in the flow waveform, this causes the Patient Monitor to display an incorrect respiratory rate

    • Quick fix: for this release, avoid using randomization, trends or transitions.

  • After loading multiple new scenarios, when pressing the “stop” button, the software will freeze and require a restart to resume running a simulation.

    • Quick fix: after running more than 4 simulation sessions, restart the software before running the next simulation session.

  • When opening the RespiSim® software it may take a minute to load.

    • Quick fix: If the software does not load after 1 minute, close the RespiSim® software, wait 20 seconds, and restart the software

  • When importing a scenario that uses custom media, the associated media section will appear as a blank box in its respective media field upon first entering the scenario during the same RespiSim session

    • Quick fix: After exiting and restarting the software all custom media will appear in the library and its correct field.

  • Occasionally when activating a cough with randomization on, the cough action may be ignored by RespiSim®.

  • When using a cough, after the first cough is applied during a given lung model the subsequent coughs may be ignored or be incomplete.

    • Quick fix: change the lung model back to the ideal model you wish to run.

  • When using transition times, the lung model will transition with the set time, but the vital signs will apply instantly.

  • If attempting to import a scenario with a custom piece of media, the custom media will not display until the software has restarted.

    • Quick fix: Always restart RespiSim® after importing scenarios with custom media.

  • If using an initial transition time with a default connection, the default connection will override any transition that is set if the transition time does not complete before the default connection timer triggers.

  • When using special character like $ in the scenario name, the character and any other words after it will be deleted from the scenario name. If using a special character when naming a lung model, it can cause the database to crash.

    • Quick fix: Avoid use of special characters when naming scenarios, DO NOT use special characters when naming lung models.

  • Custom local sounds will not be imported with a custom scenario.

  • The Tuberculosis image in X-ray media is a CT image (same as the one with the same name in CT group)

  • When choosing sounds for RespiScope®, the software doesn’t allow the user to select “None”. Instead, it immediately reverts back to the previously chosen one.

    • Quick fix: Use “mute” when you want to stop a lung sound from playing

  • When a sound level and mute is selected for “sounds” it will only be applied when a new sound is selected.

    • Quick fix: If you need to “mute” or change the volume of a sound, select a new sound and then change back to the desired sound.

  • Attempting to copy/paste text from an external document that contains special formatting (e.g. bullet points) will result in all information pasted to not be saved as part of the scenario.

  • When ventilating in volume control, users may notice a slight spike on the volume waveform. This spike can cause the ventilator to display a falsely high PIP value. Utilizing the ventilator scaler for PIP reading will ensure a more realistic value.

  • Instability occurs when increasing PEEP levels very quickly

    • Quick fix: Increase and decrease PEEP levels gradually until a new release is provided.

  • When running a simulation with a ventilator, make sure RespiSim® is running before connecting a ventilator to the simulator.
